DAS（disease activity score）はEULAR（European League Against Rheumatism；ヨーロッパリウマチ連盟）が推奨する評価法で、疾患の活動性の絶対値が算出できる。DASは(1)Ritchie関節指数、(2)腫脹関節、(3)患者による全般健康状態（VASによる）、(4)ESR（またはCRP）の4項目を測定し、公式により算出する。
従来のDASは煩雑であるため、日常の診療で用いやすいように評価する関節を28関節に絞り込んだのがDAS28である。DAS28では圧痛は有無だけを評価する。
EULARの改善基準は、このDASが基本となっている。治療前に対する治療後のDAS値の二つを組合わせて、治療効果をgood、moderate、no responseの3段階で評価している。
